Special Prize for Innovation – Archinova 2025

At Archinova Architecture Awards 2025, the studio Mess is More, together with the biotech start-up VODORASLO, received the Special Prize for Innovation in the category Urban Environment Elements for the project градски ПРЕЧИСТВАТЕЛ (Urban Purifier). The design team: Dr. arch. Hristo Tritakov, arch. Denis Ivanov and Maria Kirova.

Drawing on scientific principles and biological laws, the Urban Purifier weaves microalgae photobioreactors into the city fabric to sharply reduce levels of carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and fine particulate matter, enriching the air with oxygen while creating a place to pause and rest. Microalgae are around ten times more energy-efficient than ordinary land plants – a strong reason to bring their potential out of the oceans and closer to people’s everyday lives in the city.

A big thank-you to the whole team for their talent and dedication. Mess is more!
